If you check-in to this hotel based on this review, we certainly hope you've read it to the end and not basing its very presence as a underling endorsement. Think Hard Rock but the under-30 Ibiza version operated by the prompters of Manumission held at Privilege, a wild electronica with a punk attitude house party that once held Ibiza nightlife in its hand. Located in the former Club Paridiso Mediterranean in San Antonio, the area is known for its non-stop nightlife anytime between May and September where shoes and shirts are optional (even for ladies) and parties seem to have no end.
The massive 400-room hotel is just 500-feet from the beach and surrounds a central courtyard pool hosting outdoor pool parties and forthcoming concerts by artists like Arctic Monkeys, Kasabian, Kaiser Chiefs, MGMT, Mika and the Kooks. The lobby offers a hard rock theme with more artwark than actual memorabilia surrounding a total of four bars and even an on-site supermarket. All the common areas of the hotel are a bit rough around the edges despite their young age, at least for anyone with a preference for grout or unstained furnishings. But that's exactly what the hotel is about, hard partying and a comfy club you don't have to stagger far away in order to pass-out and start all over again later that night.
The Room
Rooms that draw the frowns of even youth hostile regulars, the hotel appears to have spent all its money the lobby and not much else.. If you’re staying here overnight, you’re likely visiting for the all-day parties and easy access to area nightclubs that end in a 1pm hangover and trip back to the bar. Long corridors open to dorm-style guest room outfitted with unattached pine twin or double beds with sandpaper quality linens, paper thin pillows and grungy carpeting. Bathrooms are not well suited for bathers, with worn porcelain basins ideal for quick showers and short-seated necessity visits. A small kitchenette offers two electric burners good for warming soup and likely more than a few experiments by wannabe pharmacologists. Tip to the chic? If you really want to stay in San Antonio, hit nearby Pacha Hotel and save yourself a fungus or even worse.
